Do you think servers should have to split their tips with the kitchen staff?
In some parts of the world (USA) tipping is culturally mandatory, because servers don't get paid a living wage (about $2.15 an hour). Some places even have an automatic gratuity charge. Do you think those servers should split their tips? What about in areas where tipping is NOT an everyday thing?
When you have an exceptionally delicious meal, do you tip the server more? If it was possible, would you tip the kitchen staff? Would you be more generous if you knew that the people who MADE the food would also be getting your tips?
And if you've ever served, have you ever bragged to the kitchen staff about your hundreds of dollars a nights in tips? Have they punched you yet?
Can this topic be discussed without it degrading into yelling and Reservoir Dogs quotes? |

Last night, while watching The Matrix, our the color tint on our tv started to shift on it's own. It goes from purple to yellow and then back to normal. We have tried to putz with every menu we can find but still can't figure it out. It's a 3 1/2 year old Samsung...are we fucked? Is it a tube? Can I fix it? Did the tv magically know that we just paid off our Best Buy credit card balance?
Any sort of advice or encouragement would be phenomenal... |
